Next Tuesday, 13 March, the Santa
María Cathedral Foundation is to hold a conference entitled
“Culture as the
driving force of the historic city” which will
address various topics related to the cultural heritage of
Vitoria-Gasteiz and Álava: the full restoration of the Santa
María Cathedral, the ancient Vitoria city wall (XIth
century) and the recovery of the Salado Valley from Salinas de
Añana. The conference will feature the following speakers:
Araceli PEREDA,
Director of Cultural Heritage at the Spanish International Cooperation
Agency (AECI). Ramón
GUTIÉRREZ, Director of the Latin American
Architecture Centre and UNESCO adviser. Agustín
AZKARATE, Professor of Archaeology at the University of
the Basque Country. Juan Ignacio
LASAGABASTER, Technical Director at the Santa
María Cathedral Foundation.
Hosted and chaired by: Ana
AGUIRRE, Director of the Municipal Agency for Urban
Development and Housing.
The conference is to be held at the Villa
Suso Palace and will start at 7pm.
