Bottles can be purchased for 8 euros each at the Visitors Reception Centre at the Cathedral and in the Parish of Santa María
Vitoria-Gasteiz, November 11, 2008 – The Parish of Santa
María in the medieval city will be launching a sale of olive oil
produced in the Rioja Alavesa for charity. Specifically, the
funds raised will help finance projects for the most needy, with which
the parish itself works.
The half-litre bottles of ADORA (Olive Association of the Rioja
Alavesa) oil can be purchased for 8 euros each at the Parish of Santa
María and the Visitors Reception Centre at the Cathedral (Plaza de las
Brullerías). A total of 500 bottles will initially be available for
sale, although this figure can be increased if necessary. This
initiative is possible thanks to the disinterested collaboration of
members of the social collective Berakah, who have bought and donated
the oil to the parish.
The funds raised from the sale will help finance
the social projects the parish is currently working on in collaboration
with Berakah, some of the most prominent of which are microcredit
grants, the welcome centre Café Calor, collaboration with Gizarterako
and attention for seniors, among others.
This charity initiative was announced to the public this morning in the
portico of the Cathedral by Lorena López de Lacalle, president of the
board of Fundación Catedral Santa María, Juan Ignacio Lasagabaster,
director of the Fundación, Alberto Alecha from ADORA and José Ángel
López de Lacalle from the parish of the Church of Santa María.
