Vitoria-Gasteiz, 19th
June 2009. - Tomorrow the portico of the Santa María
Cathedral will host a concert of the Ebony clarinet quartet, a
formation which emerged from the city`s music conservatory and which
boasts a broad repertoire. Part of the `Open for concerts` cycle, the
recital will start at 20:00 pm; it is free of charge though prior
collection of an invitation is required.
After the last performance on 13th June by the Lautada Abesbatza Choir,
which offered a successful polyphonic recital with a selection of
pieces by authors from Alava, tomorrow it is the turn of another group
formed in Vitoria-Gasteiz, specifically within the walls of the Jesús
Guridi Conservatory.
The Ebony
clarinet quartet was formed in the clarinet lesson room of this school
of music with the combined aim of diffusing the existing repertoire for
this instrument`s family - both original pieces and pieces adapted to
the group -, and to serve as a valuable educational tool for pupils. It
also has a broad repertoire which has gradually integrated most music
styles.
During tomorrow`s concert they will interpret a two-part programme with
pieces by Farkas, Händel, Dubois, Mozart, Yasinitsky, Thompson,
Gershwin, Marshall and Wiberny.
Once again the concert is free of charge and shall be held under the
portico of the Cathedral at 20:00 pm. As space is limited, invitations
must be collected at the Visitor Reception Centre (Plaza de las
Brullerías).
