19/06/2009 Part of the Spanish Group of the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works.
Vitoria-Gasteiz, 19th June, 2009.-
Today a group of experts from the International Institute for the
Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works (IIC), professionals
dedicated to the preservation and restoration of cultural wealth, will
hold, at the Santa María Cathedral, one of their work meetings. The
delegation is made up of 26 members of the Spanish Group of the ICC,
specialised in the restoration of stone masonry.
Before commencing the speeches and the work groups, the delegation -
composed of people from different communities and universities - was
received by the managing director of the Santa María Cathedral
Foundation, Juan Ignacio Lasagabaster, who described the restoration
work being carried out on the temple in Vitoria.
The objective of these
meetings is to debate, exchange work experiences or to share views on
problems which are hard to solve, such as legislation, bibliography,
etc., with the aim of developing heritage conservation and restoration
methodologies. After learning about the Santa María Cathedral project
in Vitoria, they have dealt with, among other issues, the work carried
out on the Casa de la Làctancia (1913) in Barcelona, on the mural
paintings in Gaceo or on Candás harbour.
The day will end with a
visit to the projection of the portico polychromies.
