2009/07/02 The recital is free of charge and the invitations can be collected at the Visitor Reception Centre

Vitoria-Gasteiz, 2nd July 2009.- Next Saturday the portico of the Santa María Cathedral will host a performance by the group Kúrtulus, a combination of music and dance that includes jazz, blues, ethnic, Brazilian and electronic music, always with a flamenco baseline. This concert is part of the `Open for Concert` cycle and the jazz and other music styles festival of the city`s Old Quarter, `Jazzaharrean`. It will start at 20:00 pm and prior collection of an invitation is required.

The main feature of this week`s concert is Kùrtulus, a combination of music and dance which includes a wide variety of fusion styles. Jazz, blues, ethnic, Brazilian and electronic music, among others, always with a flamenco baseline. During their performance under the Santa María portico they will offer a show where all the songs are original, composed by the artists themselves.

Kúrtulus was created in Granada in the year 2002, and since then they have participated in numerous shows in Spain and abroad. In 2003 they travelled across India with the `Carvajales` show, representing Spain at the world peace celebrations. Likewise, they have performed in London (2005) and Germany (2007), and last year they toured for six months in Istanbul collaborating with the `flamenco a la turca` project, an initiative that mixed flamenco with Turkish music, enriched with other rhythms and music styles.

Its members are David Heredia (flamenco guitar), Ángel Sánchez (Spanish lute), Edu `Bajero` (bass and Indian tablas), `El Pirata` (percussion, vocals and guitar) and Carolina Morales (dances).

As usual, this concert is part of the `Open for Concerts` programme, organised by the Santa María Cathedral Foundation. However, this time it is part, in turn, of Jazzaharrean, the festival of jazz and many other music styles which will be staged in different parts of the Medieval Quarter.

The concert will start at 20:00 pm under the portico of the Cathedral. As space is limited, in order to attend this concert, invitations must be collected at the Visitor Reception Centre (Plaza de la Brullería).
