The enclosure will be open from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 16:30 to 20:00 and there will be guided tours without prior reservation every 45 minutes for 1 euro.
Vitoria-Gasteiz, 3rd July 2009.- The medieval wall in
Vitoria-Gasteiz will extend its opening hours to the public during July
and August so that citizens from Vitoria and abroad can visit it, free
of charge, at any time of the day without the need for taking part in a
guided tour. Thus, this small treasure of the Historical City will be
open from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 16:30 20:00 Monday to Friday, and all
Saturday without interruption.
As part of its compromise
to make the Medieval Quarter the focus of the city`s cultural and
touristic activity, the Agency for the Integral Restoration of the
Historical City of Vitoria-Gasteiz has decided to extend the
availability of visits to the walled enclosure which it carries out in
collaboration with the Santa María Cathedral Foundation. Starting from
tomorrow, Saturday 4th July, and coinciding with the Market of the
Almendra, the wall will be open to visits from 11:00 to 14:00 and from
16:30 to 20:00 every day of the week. In addition, on Saturdays it will
not close at midday. Thus, whoever wants to take a walk around this
part of the city`s historical heritage and contemplate the spectacular
botanic garden may do so completely free of charge at practically any
time of the day.
But this will not be the
only alternative. Apart from strolling around the wall, there is the
possibility of guided tours without prior booking. The tours will take
place every 45 minutes starting at the entrance of the enclosure and
will cost 1 euro.
Younger visitors will also have their own offer. The Santa María
Cathedral Foundation has designed a specific tour for them, more
entertaining and fun than the tour for adults. It will be on offer
every day at 11:30 and 18:30, also without prior booking, and is free
of charge for under-18`s.
Along with this summer offer the current tours will also be maintained.
Whoever wants a more complete tour may do so for 2 euros at 11:15,
12:45, 17:15 and 18:45, leaving from the Santa María Cathedral.
