Vitoria-Gasteiz,
31st de July 2009.- The medieval wall in Vitoria-Gasteiz
will be the setting during the month of August for a children`s
storyteller who will explain the history of the city to youngsters in
an entertaining and fun way. The sessions will be open to all and free
of charge, and will be held in Basque and Spanish.
On the 5th August, the Agency for the Integral Revitalisation of the
Historical City of Vitoria-Gasteiz, in collaboration with the Santa
María Cathedral Foundation, will start a new initiative with which it
intends to teach young children about the history of the city and the
medieval wall.
The `Clowntacuentos´ group will offer an entertaining puppet show
lasting approximately 45 minutes aimed at children aged between 4 and 9
years, though anyone who wishes to may attend. By means of around 10
characters dressed in clothing from medieval times, the period during
which the wall was built, they will tell the story of the small village
of Gasteiz, of how it grew and how the wall surrounding the medieval
quarter was built. To do this, they will use three stages on which
characters such as Herminia, Telo, the town crier, the builders, the
sorceress or the inhabitants of the city, among others, will appear.
The storytelling sessions will be held in the green area at the
entrance of the walled enclosure so that the young audience can sit
comfortably on the grass on the 5th, 8th, 22nd and 29th August. During
these days there will be a session at 12:30 pm in Spanish and another
at 18:00 pm in Basque.
