Santa María Cathedral collaborates with the Association of Friends of St. James' Way to organise a march that follows its route through Vitoria

To take place next Sunday 7th February, between Elorriaga and Armentia.  Anyone wishing to can take part without the need to be registered beforehand .  The march will leave at 9.00 am from the church in Elorriaga

             Vitoria-Gasteiz, 5th February 2010.- The Santa María Cathedral Foundation and the Association of Friend's of St. James' Way have joined forces to encourage all citizens to take part in the 'unofficial baptism' of the recently installed signs of the Way on its route through Vitoria. In the Jacobean Year that has just started, the Council has installed special yellow paving stones to indicate the main locations of this route in the capital of Alava. 
 Next Sunday 7th February, a public march will cover on foot the route between Elgorriaga and Armentia. The march will leave at nine o'clock in the morning from the church in Elgorriaga and will finish at the sign located at the end of Paseo del Peregrino (previously known as Paseo del Santo) in Armentia. The initiative is open to anyone wishing to participate and prior registration is not required. For a distance of 7 and a half kilometers and after leaving Elorriaga, the march will continue along Avenida de Santiago and Portal del Rey to then enter the Medieval Quarter through Nueva Dentro, San Vicente de Paúl and Cantón de Santa Ana until reaching Santa María Cathedral. Once the temple has been encircled, it continues through Fray Zacarías street, Cantón de la Soledad and the church of San Pedro; through Diputación street it will reach the Virgen Blanca and from here it will travel along the Paseos Florida, Senda, Fray Francisco and Cervantes until it ends at Paseo del Peregrino, the final destination of the march.
