CHILDREN´S WORKSHOP DURING THE EASTERN
WEEKDAYS: 6th-9th April TIMETABLE: From 10.30am till 13.00pm AGE: 8-11 years old PRICE: 16€ for the members of the Founders Circle and 24€ for no members
OBJECTIVES -Learn and understand different customs and traditions related to the Eastern, churches and the cathedral in particular. - Learn to orient oneself inside the temple. - Learn the basic differences between the art styles( romasnesque- gothic...) and learn what the neogothic style is. - Make the Patrimony closer to the young people.
APPROACH
- 2 Visitis- workshop with a duration of 2hrs and 1/2 each one. - 1 visit with a track- game through the cathedral finishing with a manual activity. Duration of 2 hrs and 1/2 - 1 visit- excursion through the city to learn about Vitoria- Gasteiz, the city of the ´Three Cathedrals´. Duration of 2 hrs and 1/2- 3 hrs.In this visit- workshops we will do first a visit in about 45 minutes with clear explanations for the children. The track- game will have a surprise for the children at the end. The three cathedrals route will be also clearly explained with different pictures and books. DEVELOPMENT
1.*THE CATHEDRAL´S VOICE Visit During this day the children will take contact with the cathedral´s bells, their use, their importance during the Eastern time and the necessity of recovering them. In the workshop, each child will make a bell with plaster. 2.* ( Track game) LOST EASTERN EGG
We will learn more about this tradition, it´s origins and it´s direct relation with the Eastern time. Visit ( Trach game) After learning the different parts of the cathedral ( portico, central nave, chapels e.t.c.) , the children( divided in different two groups) must find tracks in the cathedral hidden in Eastern Eggs. Once they have found the last track, they will discover a surprise. WorkshopThe children will decorate their own Eastern- egg with different technics. 3.* ST. JAMES´ WAY AND THE SANTA MARIA CATHEDRAL
Visit
The visit will be inside and outside the cathedral with these main subjects:- Short history of St. James´Way- St. James and his life- The different ways - The pilgrims from yesterday and today- St. James´ signs in the Cathedral- Signposting of the Way ( outside and inside the city) Workshop :Every manual activity will be done with recycled materials like plastic bottles,colored cards...
4-* THE THREE CATHEDRALS´ ROUTE Using the city bus we will do an itinerary from the Armentia basilica, the ´first cathedral´of our territory. We will learn the main features of the romanesque style and we will compare the styles of the Santa Maria Cathedral and Armentia. Returning to Santa Maria Cathedral, we will visit the Maria Inmaculada cathedral ( the third cathedral) and learn about the neogothic style
