Vitoria- Gasteiz, 20th September 2011.- Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation will offer the last concert of the ´Open for Concert´programme this year. The group ´Accademia del Piacere´, a vocal and instrumental group, is a reference of the spanish ancient music new generation. They will offer a program based on the pompous  french music of Sun King´s court and  will begin at 8pm.´Open for Concert´ programme finishes the concerts season with an interesant proposal of very unusual instruments like the viola de gamba and the tiorba. Accademia del Piacere is a group that plays the music of the Baroque period and the Renaissance since their origins. They will present their program ´About Angels and Demons´ that covers the french music of Louis XIV´s court, also known as the Sun King, specifically the pieces written by Marin Marais and Antoine Forqueray. In 1661, Louis XIV was obsessed with the order and wanted to control the rebellious aristocracy of the kingdom, so he decided to move the court from Paris to Versailles. He also wanted to impress the visitors so he brought to his residence the best artists of France. At this time, they knew each other the two best viola players ever, Marin Marais and Antoine de Forqueray. The first one was an artisan but a very ambitious person, and the second one was a revolutionary of the improvisation who always said that hadn´t written a note in his life. Marais played like an angel and Forqueray like a demon. 300 years later the duel continues....The concert will be in the central nave of the cathedral at 8pm and the tickets are already available in the Cathedral´s Store ( Las Escuelas St. 11) for 5€, and 3€ for the members of the Founder´s Circle. The ´Open for Concert´programme will return in springtime due to the weather conditions inside the cathedral in wintertime. Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation wants  to thank the musicians and the audience their participation and involvement in this project, and also the public and private institutions who had helped us.
