Vitoria- Gasteiz, 17th October 2011.- The cathedral of Palencia, known as well as the unknown beauty, will play the lead tomorrow in a new conference organized by Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation. The architect of this cathedral, Carlos Clemente, will offer this conference at 8pm in Luis de Ajuria hall. The entrance is free. The cathedral of Palencia is also known as the unknown beauty. This cathedral is not the favorite monument in the city for the tourists because of its exterior appearance, but the cathedral is a huge and balanced medieval building with charm, and the actual gothic cathedral was built above a romanesque one. For discovering all its secrets, Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation has invited the architect Carlos Clemente, who is director of the technical office of Alcalá de Henares University and between 1992-1994 he was the director of the Spanish Architecture Institute. Because of this work, Carlos Clemente has received several international awards.
He has also written the study of the Integrated Restoration of Alcalá de Henares, the plan of the interior restoration of the Historical Centre of Dalt Vila in Ibiza and the Special Plan of of the Historical Centre in Barbastro. He has also restored some churches of St James´ Way like San Juan de Ortega, San Hipólito de Támara in Palencia e.t.c. Carlos Clemente has written the Spanish Cathedrals´Book.
The conference will take place at 8pm and the title is ´The unknown beauty, Palencia a cathedral in the biography of the Cathedrals´Plan´.
