Vitoria- Gasteiz, 23rd January 2012.-The Cathedral of Pamplona will be tomorrow the main protagonist of the conferences that Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation organizes about another cathedrals. The architect Leopoldo Gil Cornet will offer this conference at 8pm in Villasuso Palace.There are three reasons that make the cathedral of Pamplona different to other cathedrals. The first one is its religious importance , then its artistic importance as its cloister is one of the most significants in Europe, and the third one because of its role in the Ancient Navarra Kingdom.The speaker will be Mr. Leopoldo Gil Cornet ( Barcelona, 1952), architect of the Historical Heritage Service of the Principe de Viana Institution dependent on the Goverment of Navarra, and restoration teacher and coordinator of the University of Navarra in the Architecture Faculty. He is also member of the Partal Association and he won in 1998 the National Prize of Restoration and Preservation of Cultural Assets. He has directed several monuments preservation projects like the Royal Collegiate Church of Roncesvalles, the France front of the medieval walls in Pamplona e.t.c.The Principe de Viana Institution was born in 1940 and its activity is based on the restoration, maintenance and guard of the historical heritage, and also the study, investigation and the spreading of the culture of Navarra.´The Cathedral of Pamplona and its new relation with the city´ conference will begin at 8pm in Martin de Salinas hall in Villasuso Palace. The entrance will be free.
