2012/03/19 ´Encounters with another cathedrals´ offers this conference with the architectJosé Juste Ballesta.
Vitoria- Gasteiz, 19th March 2012.- This conference of the ´Encounters with another cathedrals´ organised by Santa Maria Cathedral Foundation will be about the cathedral of Sigüenza. Our guest is the architect José Juste Ballesta, who has also drawn up the Master Plan of the cathedral. The conference will begin at 8pm in Luis de Ajuria hall with free entrance. The cathedral of Sigüenza has mixed styles due to its two construction stages: The first romanesque one that began around 1130 or 1140 by the first bishop of Sigüenza, Bernardo de Agen, and the second gothic one continued by the next bishop Pierre de Leucate. This cathedral is also known as ´The Doncel of Sigüenza´ , has two large towers in the façade and over the front door there is a big rose window of the XIIIth century. The cathedral has a latin cross plan, three naves, transept and main chapel.
The conference is entitled ´The Cathedral of Sigüenza: its evolution and recent interventions´ and will be offered by the architect and editor of the Master Plan of this cathedral, José Juste Ballesta. He has worked in several historical buildings and assets like the concathedral of Guadalajara, the medieval walls and the palace of Buitrago de Lozoya etc..... Mr. Juste has made different investigations and inventories about historical heritage, and also drawn up Master Plans like the one of Sigüenza where he works since 1998 in collaboration with the architect Eduardo Barceló de Torres.
The conference begins at 8pm in Luis de Ajuria hall ( General Álava, 7) with free entrance.
